Good mood and impressions in the halfway of voluntary activity2010-08-24
In 21 December, 2009 Kursiu nerija National Park Administration was accredited for European Volunteers service as a hosting EVS organization. Information about organization placed in the website SOS Volunteer Helpdesk .
From May to December, 2010 Kursiu nerija national park became a hosting place for two volunteers: Mykola Volynets from Ukraine and Florian Launay from France. Volunteers are kindly talking about impressions, feelings and practice of voluntary activity in the national park.
Mykola Volynets from Ukraine:
„Well. I'm in Lithuania more than three months and these months have been extremely sunny)))!!!! During this period, so many events happened. I meet wonderful people from Kursiu nerija national park administration. They were really pleasant always helping me understand the tasks of my work. And the work was very different: working with tourists, in the forest…. Every day I know more and more about this protected area, about environment protection. When I just arrived I expected to meet cold, not friendly people, but it turned out quite the opposite: Lithuanians are extremely friendly and helpful people. I like that I found a good company for concerts, culture and art festivals here. Also I like Lithuanian girls very much. I have possibility to meet well known Lithuanian singers, painter, and actress.
I already visited many places in Lithuania, but for me the best place is Kursiu nerija!!! Every part of the park has its own unique atmosphere. Going into the forest you can breathe in the full light going out on the sea shore or on top of dunes, where you feel on top of the world!!!
But the most important part of Lithuania is Lithuanian sky, this sky is not like anywhere else, you can sit for hours and look at it, watch: it’s changing every moment. You can relax and enjoy and catch the unique moments of being
I still don’t know much about culture, but I think, summer is ending and the autumn will be perfect time for the museums, traditional activities and learning more about Lithuanian culture.“
Florian Launay from France:
“I’m student of marketing and I wanted to see what it’s the National Park and to learn more on environmental issues. When I arrived in the park I was very impressed by all things to discover. I think, for me the most impressing were the dunes like a desert and the mixture of sand and forests of the landscape. Moreover, when I saw the colony of great cormorants I was very surprised by the number of nests. And I can’t forget the sea and the lagoon which are part of the park, this water is rich of fishes and there are many tourists relaxing on the beach in Curonian Spit.
My tasks in the park administration were to welcome the visitors, to help make sculptures of canes, to work with forestry and inspection officers, take part in nature painting with children..... It’s very interesting to have many different missions. Now I know more about the park so I would like introducing the park in the schools for little schoolchildren by making presentation or advertisement about the park and my native country France.”
